Contemplative Monday

I'm a real creature of habit. Every morning after breakfast I prepare a cup of tea for myself......... Matcha tea.

So as I was sipping it a few moments ago, wondering what quote/phrase to post for contemplation today, I looked into the frothy green liquid I was drinking. Something about tea of course!

As you may know, tea has quite a history and tradition in Asian countries. I read this great little book all about it: The Book of Tea by Kakuzo Okakura.

"Those who cannot feel the littleness of great things in themselves are apt to overlook the greatness of little things in others."

  1. Beautiful pictures. But, I'll take coffee. Strong enough to stand the proverbial spoon up in. Coffee is such a jolly brew. It perks you up, and gets you going.

  2. I have recently rediscovered green tea via a delicious green tea sampler pack that is (oddly enough) made by Stash, which contains green tea interestingly paired with other flavours. Unlike other teas, though, I always have to remember to wait a few minutes before pouring in the boiling water in order not to scald the delicate tea.

  3. Coffee makes me very jittery....that's all I need. So I went to green teas which has caffeine but at a much lower dose. But I do sneek a couple of sips from very strong brew occasionally!

  4. I miss the smell of pine trees. We used to weave them together to make doll toys when I was a kid. Nice Photo

  10. I've said this before - you have such a good eye for a photo.

One of my special memories is from a temple in Japan where we drank tea made in a gold pot, rumored to give the drinker 7 years of good health.

  14. Isn't it amazing how the most simple thing--a cup of tea--can elicit such interesting comments? The quote is awesome. I drink coffee to wake me up but my cup of chamomile in the evening is just the most wonderful part of my day. I know I'll be sleeping peacefully soon!
