Contemplative Monday

The following quote is from 'The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh'
and published by 'Shambhala Pocket Classics'.

MINDFUL  LIVING

"When you eat your breakfast, even if it is just a small bite early n the morning,
eat in such a way that freedom is possible.

While eating breakfast, don't think of the future, of what you are going to do.

Your practice is to simply eat breakfast.

Your breakfest is there for you; you have to be there for your breakfast.

You can chew each morsel of food with joy and freedom.
Eat with gratitude."

Eclectic Tastes

I heard this group on the radio in the car yesterday
and enjoyed their sound and harmony.

They are a Canadian folk/country trio and were formed in 2006
combining their three solo careers.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Saturday Morning Post

Tuning in for another week.....

This is the BEST sounding radio I have ever heard.
I got it last week from a friend's friend who was selling everything and moving out west.

Parking lot at beach.

Shop corner.

Since Ron is still building strength from his heart attack in March,
he does not always go as far as Sophie and I do at the park.
Hills can be very difficult for him....either up or down.
Takes time.

A view of MacDonald House from the front for a change.
My shop is on the third floor from the basement.

Cleo, one of the three 'resident' dogs at day care
when we were picking up Sophie yesterday. I think Cleo wanted too come along too.

Very calm sea from 'my perch' last Sunday.

Now who couldn't use with a little more sunshine this time of year?!
OK Jean in New Zealand, you would be the exception here!!

From a series called 'Glamour Girls'.....a plate series that is.

A Little Christmas in The Park

We had Sophie at the park in Halifax on Monday and came across this
'nursing tree trunk' with this 'little Christmas scene' on top.

Still No Snow

The garden is ready for our first snowfall......any time now.....

'Word' has it from Canada's national weather service that the Maritimes
will have a wet (snowless) winter this year.

And of course as soon as I say this, we'll be waking up to two feet of snow!!

It has been a few years since we have had a 'mild', by Canadian standards, winter.

To be honest I just wish we will have winter with snow any day now.
I love those cold and crisp days with the sun shining.
Not these gray, overcast ones we've been having.

It just doesn't feel like winter until we have some snow around that lasts till April!!

We are prepared and ready for whatever nature decides to give us.

Still we wait......

From My Perch

Must be a better surf up at the point
because there was nothing here on this side of the hill.

Looking out my shop window at MacDonald House on Sunday.

Contemplative Monday

The following quote is from 'THE POCKET THICH NHAT HANH'
published by 'Shambhala Pocket Classics'.

TOUCHING THE EARTH

"In the Buddhist tradition I am part of, we do a practice called "Touching the Earth",
every day.

It helps us in many ways.
You too could be helped by doing this practice.

When you feel restless or lack confidence in yourself,
or when you feel angry or unhappy,

you can kneel down and touch the ground deeply with your hand.

Touch the Earth as if it were your favourite thing or your best friend."

Saturday Morning Post

Where did this week go?

Evening sets in on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.

Three 'jadeite' mugs which never made it to the shop.

I 'found' this chair this week and believe it has potential.....
after a good cleaning.

Dog, ball, man and camera.

Shop corner.....

Looking west from MacDonald Hill.

Sophie at her favourite spot on MacDonald Hill.

Ripples.

Jewelry at Fancy Lucky Vintage next door to MCM.

Waiting.....

Went to see my father yesterday.
He was at lunch so I went into the large sitting room and saw this piano.

One of the staff, Jennifer, heard me and joined in on a few duets.
We had a lot of fun!

Almost Blinding

After a very powerful nor'easter on Wednesday,
it was SO good to see and feel the sun on Thursday.....
very spring-like.

Tibetan Prayer Flags reflecting against fence.

When I'm Sixty-four...

Actually most, if not all of you, know I had my 64th birthday a couple of years ago.

But, my 'kid' brother, Dennis, turned 64 yesterday and I joined he and his partner, Jackie,
for dinner last evening in a very new and popular restaurant called
the 'Lion and Bright Cafe and Bar' in Halifax.

We had a very good meal and also good conversation too.
Now rest assured that all the world's problems are now solved.

You're welcome.

My brother Dennis.

Sparkles

Time to join in on a little Christmas/Holiday spirit!

I was at the shop on Sunday and took a few pics:

This is in Amy's shop (next door) and is the centre of a hat/purse collection she has.

If you want a lot of sparkle this Christmas....get out the crystal!!

It works!
