Pride In The Whole Community

Last Saturday we went to the Pride Parade in Halifax.

It's all about everybody being proud of whom they are,
also the freedom to express this publicly.....

There was a real sense of community and not just from the gay one
but from the whole community.

Here are a few photos of what I saw:

Sophie and Ron in front with Mim and Michael in back.

Members of the local detachment of the RCMP.

On a mission!

Hello!

This little girl was next to us and was SO excited
to get her picture taken with these two 'ladies'.

Ron was very busy!

This Greyhound came right over to see Sophie
and looked as if she wished she could join her!

Hockey team members from local university.

Nurses from the IWK Children's Hospital giving support.

A not-so-happy looking Doodle!

It takes all kinds!

Sophie was really well-behaved....but tired at the end of it.

The Premier of Nova Scotia Darrell Dexter (in plaid shirt).

Another very tired looking Doodle.

And that would be it!

The following quote is from 'Heart Advice, Weekly Quotes From Pema Chodron'.

THREE OBJECTS, THREE POISONS, AND THREE SEEDS OF VIRTUE

"The three objects are: friends, enemies, and neutrals.

The three poisons are: craving, aversion, and indifference.

When you feel craving, you own it fully and wish that all beings could be free of it.

When you feel aggression or indifference you do the same.

In this way what usually causes suffering-----what poisons us and others-----

becomes a seed of compassion and loving-kindness, a seed of virtue."

This past week was 'Pride Week' in Halifax.
The Pride Parade was yesterday
and we '3 amigos' (Ron, Sophie and I) met up with
my sister Mim and her partner Michael.
Had a great fun time!

Here is a 'classic' from the 70's.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

The week that was.....

Waiting for elevator after visiting my father at the veterans hositial.

Look what the UPS guy had for us on Thursday!
An 'Achatz' strawberry/rhubarb crumble pie!!
A gift form Stew and Ed in Michigan for
showing them around Halifax last month.
It is as good as it looks, trust me.

Fog always produces the strangest photos. The green is fog
and the blue is a break in the clouds.

Chillin'........

Blowin in the wind. Sophie was just sitting on the hill and looking out to sea that evening.

I think she was enjoying the cool breeze with Ron.

This is the top of a very high and dead tree in the park.....
with a small tree growing out of an opening.

Sunrise at Lawrencetown Beach.

I bet kids and adults love this!

Sunrise looking out to Lawrencetown Lake.

Sophie met the 'love of her life' last week at the beach!
This is Zephyr a Golden Doodle.
He was very smitten with her as well.
They were very relaxed around each other.

New condo high rise in Halifax.

Which is the mannequin?

A recent purchase (and a first in a long while) of mid-century dishes.

Got these from a woman who was selling these at a yard sale stand on the south shore.
She was helping her mother sell all this 50's and 60's collectibles.
