Eclectic Tastes

For a couple of months a year we have 'California' weather
here in the Atlantic Provinces of Canada.

Yesterday morning we went to the beach around 10 o'clock
and it was looking a lot like summer had arrived here!

Parking lot starting to fill up, surfers and bathers in the water.
Time to just sit back and 'dream'......

Just a tidbit of info on the 'Mamas and Papas':
Denny Doherty (click his name) grew up in Halifax
 next door to my brother-in-law.
There ya go.
Enjoy.

  1. Oh, I just clicked on his name and I did not know that he had passed away, that is so sad.
Also, that Mama Cass asked him to marry her and he did not do so, also very sad.
From Canada, eh? I didn't know that either!

  2. I love this song! Great choice, Jim.

I had no idea Denny Doherty was Canadian. YAY CANADA! And he grew up next door to your brother-in-law? That is amazing! Why, you're practically related...LOL...

I also didn't know that he had died not too long ago, and so young. That's very sad.

  6. Hi Jim! Wow! This song has so many memories for me. I used to listen to it on my blue transistor radio in Stillwater (outside Sherbrooke N.S). I was sick a lot the two years I lived there, and I remember the grey sky and bare trees outside my bedroom window ~ and I would try to imagine California. Not even a frisson of premonition. Eight years later I was living in California. Never for a nanosecond did I dream I would be living in the US and become an American citizen! But here I am! It's the story of my life ~ continually being shot off in different directions. No regrets about California though! Or the US! But I'll always be a Bluenoser!
