Contemplative Monday

The following is taken from 'The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh' (click)
and published by Shambhala Pocket Classics.

"The miracle of mindfulness is, first of all, that you are here.
Being truly here is very important----being here for yourself, and for the one you love.

How can you love if you are not here?
A fundamental condition for love is your own presence.
In order to love, you must be here.
That is certain.

Fortunately, being here is not a difficult thing to accomplish.
It is enough to breathe and let go of thinking or planning.

Just come back to yourself, concentrate on your breath, and smile.

You are here, body and mind together.
You are here, alive, completely alive.
That is a miracle."

    1. Sure is, Debra. Quite the 'menu' eh?

  2. It's one of those days... I am here, and yet I am not here, concentrating on my breathing makes it more difficult.
I know this will pass the same as the day.

    1. Concentrating on your breathing, Sharon, doesn't necessarily mean to breathe any harder......breath as easy you normally would with no effort. Just be aware of it of the 'in' and 'out' breaths for a few seconds.

  3. I guess I have a lot of work to do...but better trying than giving up :) thanks Jim!

    1. Only do a few breaths for a few seconds at a time, Lorraine. I know what you mean!! Our mind wants to travel EVERY where!!

  4. Just beautiful, Jim: words and photos. I hope that your work has gotten off to a great start!

  5. Words to ponder and stunning views. The colors in these shots are amazing.

    1. Aren't they, Pat! No need for any editing either!!

  6. So true - and such wonderful shots too!
