  2. Oh Sophie, the indignity... beautiful shots. How do you know when the lake ice is getting towards being too thin for safety?

    1. Good question, Craig. There are news bulletins daily about the safety of all ice conditions in the area.
there were so many on the ice that day playing hockey, that we figured it was OK.

  7. Spectacularly beautiful winter photos, Jim! I'm glad that you get reports on how safe the ice was! I know that you wouldn't let ms SD out on it if it wasn't safe! One of our first nights here, we listened to the weather report, and the broadcaster was alerting Hawaiians to a winter storm warning with 15-17 inches of snow!!!! On top of Mona Laua on the Big Island! Other than that, it's tropical warmth and breezes! Stay safe!

  9. I wanted to tell you and Ron that I have been looking for my grippers ever since you two posted about them. Bob finally discovered them on a top shelf in a garage cabinet - the rubber torn and disintegrating. So, now I'm the proud owner of a new pair of Yaktraks. They sure make walking on slippery surfaces easier. It still looks wintery and chilly there. I love the blues of the sky and sea contrasted with the snow. Keep warm!
