Retro Saturday

Had an hour to go to my favourite 'thrift' store in Halifax this week.

This is what I ended up buying.....things that just caught my eye. Here they are all together.

Now if anybody can tell me what this is:

                 Maybe an English Cucumber holder?

Here are the other things:

                   Copper coloured tampered vase.

Ruby glass candy dish section......originally with four sections.

Blue Mountain Pottery made in Canada

                                   Blue Mountain Pottery pepper shaker.

                                   Beehive shaker.

                                   Pottery creamer.

Hand painted pottery made in Japan.

                                 Frosty the Snowman.

                 Shooter glass.

                     Figurine made in Japan.

                  Pyrex mug.

My favourite find of the day.......a wooden painted egg.

You just never know what you will find in 'thrift' shops. Right Liz? Now what to do with this! lol

Have a great weekend you guys.

  1. Great finds! Think that wooden egg is for darning socks, looks like it was well used by all the needle scratches!
That long thing - maybe a pickle slice server or for celery "logs"? Pretty unusual.
Glad you had so much fun!

  2. At first I thought that long green dish might be an incense burner but I can't see a little hole at either end, so perhaps it's not. My second guess is that it might be an olive dish -- just line 'em up in a long row!

  3. I want to go thrifting with you guys!!!! Awesome finds! I am a pottery freak, so I especially love your pottery pieces.
That "thing" you are wondering about looks like an olive tray. Could it be an olive tray?

  4. Definitely an olive tray! These were really big in Québec a couple of years ago, everybody had one for parties!

  6. what awesome finds!! we love to go thrifting too. i would say that long thing might be for a single piece of asparagus beautifully presented with a sprinkle of slivered cheese and diced pimento. but what do i know... deep sighs, its prolly for olives... black ones only.

    have a great weekend!!

  8. We had those pyrex mugs when we were growing up. I love the cow, I bought one at a yard sale once... kept it for about two years then ended up selling it at an other yard sale. Lots of great finds here...

  13. I was thinking it was some sort of dipping tray but I think Peter's right on with the olive dish.
