    1. I remember one when I was a kid and I think it was red too. When I saw this one, and in such good condition, I nabbed it!
We are doing well Joyce, thank you for asking. A day at a time and slowly at first.

    1. Thanks Vicki, I enjoy the Saturday post as well.
Ron took that one of me and Sophie one morning last week.
You know there are surfers at the beach all year round....weather does not deter them a bit. Most wear wet suits but a few have dry suits because it is SO cold most of the year.

  4. Your Dad, looking so well, and the surfer, surely a little crazy? intrepid? very keen to try the water? Hugs to all, Jean .p.s. hope the doc's apt went as planned and all OK there too.

    1. My Dad will be 98 in June. We can't believe his alertness, sense of humour and interest he has in things, especially all his family, Jean. He is quite remarkable and I am appreciating him more than ever. His great grandmother, Sophie (our Sophie's namesake) lived to 103.
Ron's doctor's appointment went well and he is getting prepared for a stress test in a few weeks which will tell the doctor if meds are at an appropriate level or if they need to be decreased/increased.

  5. I love that Sophie can go along to visit your Dad. I think that could be my Mom's ladder/chair! (Great color, too!) I like the pic of you and Sophie in the sun. Hope Ron got good news.

    1. Hi Barb. Sophie had to pass a 'security test' of sorts before allowed in Veteran's hospital. She passed and loves visiting there. She calms down as soon as she enters the building and is so careful around the residents.
I remember calling those chairs 'step stools' and I think they were very popular back in the 50's and early 60's.
Ron is fine and moving forward.....learning as he goes along this new path. Thanks.

  6. Sophie must be such a hit when she goes to visit your dad. The residents at the nursing home where I worked adored my daughter's doodle, who could be kind of wild but was always on her best behavior the minute she walked in the door of the home.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. Hi Janie. The residents get a real kick out of Sophie being there and they tell me their stories about the dogs they had in their lives. And Sophie is so gentle around them. I know what you mean about Doodles.....they can be and are very rambunctious. But around people who are weak and/or sick Sophie is another dog completely.

    1. Thanks Linda. Good to see you.
I couldn't resist taking that photo of Dad.
I am thinking that in Canada we used the name 'step-chair' for these 'chairs'. They were so useful back then. Wonder why they aren't now.....probably safety reasons. I love roaming around thrift stores too.
