Church Study

Yesterday we went for a drive to Cow Bay which is just
to the west of us across Cole Harbour.

We came across this old church....built in 1896......along the shore
of the Atlantic Ocean.

It is still used today and services the local community of Cow Bay.

We parked the car and got out to look around. Sophie was very pleased to do so!
She loves new areas to explore......and there was grass there!

The object in the window above looks like a tombstone.
But after looking inside I saw that it was the end
of a wooden pew.

It was a bright sunny day with a very chilly breeze coming off
the Atlantic.

Ron and Sophie headed down to the stony beach which is another 'surfer's paradise'.

Directly across from the church one can see MacDonald Hill and House (atop that grassy hill).
This is very near 'our beach' to the right. We live beyond and to the left of this photo.

One of the things I treasure about living in Nova Scotia
is that you can find yourself being pretty much alone
no matter where you go.
Very tranquil and peaceful.

  1. I'm sure many will (and have in the past) enjoy the Sunday Services held there, beautiful old building, and the stony beach, looks like the others enjoyed it too. Cheers, Jean.

  2. I long for places that I can feel alone, tranquil and at peace. There are very few places in the UK that haven't been discovered by tourists.

  3. you do live in a little piece of heaven!

  4. Wonderful images, Jim. Looks like a great place to explore. I am always astonished at how similar your area is to ours. But it makes sense since both places are very old. It makes for great photography!

  5. Beautiful images. I like your artistic treatment of these. You do live in a beautiful part of this world.

  6. Lovely old church, looks to be taken care of with lots of love.

  7. Great to see Ron and Sophie out and about

  8. What a quaint little church! Certainly has that old world charm to it. How serene Nova Scotia must be.

  9. I enjoyed these peaceful photos, Jim. I love the one of Ron and Sophie on that stony beach. How the heck did they get down there?

  10. I'm glad they didn't have a tombstone inside the church.

  11. I envy your peaceful and tranquil area there!! And you guys went to church! Well. Kind of. LOL ;-) Always great pictures, Jim.

  12. Some day I'll drive out East to visit NS. Your photos make me hope that day is sooner rather than later. XD

  13. Love old churches---
    Love beaches ----
Double love for old churches at the beach!

    Fabulous photos--
