Retro Saturday

Been wracking my brain for this week's 'retro' entry. Started looking around the house for something that was old enough to qualify and something I hadn't already posted.

Then it hit me!

I looked at a couple of photos on the wall in the hall that were thirty years old. That would qualify for 'vintage' at any rate!

Then next to this photo there was one from roughly the same time period.

Both of these 'items' were made in Nova Scotia and 'manufactured' by Nova Scotians. In fact the history of both can be traced back to the mid 1800's when their respective, original makers, arrived in Canada via the UK and France.

It was not difficult to find 'markings' on both that 'pin-pointed' that these were from 1948 and 1950 respectively. It's amazing what you can find on-line today!

Both have held up reasonably well considering the time that has passed. And I am certain that both items will be cherished well into the future.

  3. Is that Magnum P.I.? ;-) I sense a west coast vibe on that one, dispite the NS manufacture.

Okay, that's over. All of a sudden I can think clearly again. You know the one thing that I like more than reading glasses. Yep, you guessed it, 70's porno mustaches. I assume you posted those photos just for me, right? And so for that, Thank you. m.

  10. What a handsome pair! But surely not old enough for retro or vintage - more like sweet young things.

  13. These look like well made artifacts here. And based on more recent shots that you've posted of these, I can say that they have stood the test of time well.

  14. Blimey I just realised.... that's you and Ron! At first I thought they were pictures from 'Smokey and the Bandit', and then I thought... nah.... Jim has got impeccable taste, he wouldn't have pictures of Smokey and the Bandit in his hallway. And then I sussed it.

What a handsome pair! I haven't seen many pics of you Jim, but Ron doesn's seem to have changed at all. What's that all about?!
