Love Is Just A Four Letter Word

On the weekend we went to the 'valley' to visit Ron's mother's grave site (it was her birthday) and to take Sophie to her  favourite 'swimming hole'....the canal.

On the way back through the beautiful Gasperaux Valley, I looked up the hill and instantly was 'flashed' back to a hot summer's day in 1970.

At the top in the middle is a clearing filled with dandelions. Back in 1970 it was filled with youth listening to a Joan Baez concert. It was one year after 'Woodstock'.

I was there and unbeknownst to me at the time, so was Ron.

Oh, and he was with a group which included my brother, Dennis. Go figure.

  1. Why didn't you ask me to go? You know how I like to make fun of Hippies?
    Maybe next time?

  4. What a gorgeous place! And isn't life interesting -- how we could so easily miss the person we have come to love.

    1. Three years later I did my 'practice teaching' in this valley just down the road from here. It wasn't the right time for either of us.....we were just kids!! lol

  6. what a lovely place. As you say, the time wasn't right, who knows, if you knew each other then you probably would not be together now. People change...thank G-d.

  7. That is a beautiful place; so much lovely greenery! I was only 5 in 1970, so I didn't understand what Woodstock was all about for quite a few years later. Interesting how you were both at the same place at the same time but never met. It wasn't the right time yet. Life sometimes has other plans for us until we're ready to partner up with the person we're meant to be with.
