Watching Rocks

There is a beach further down the road from here that is almost entirely covered in rocks.

This is in complete contrast to the other beaches in this area. I wonder why this one hasn't gone the 'way' of most beaches and become sand?

As Sophie and Ron were playing ball in the water, I noticed a few rocks.

As I 'centered in' on them, I realized that these have been around for a very long time. How long one may ask? Well, let's put it this way, these rocks were much larger originally when they were 'created' many tens of thousands of years ago.

It has been the constant crashing, tumbling and movement of the waves that shape these things into all the different sizes.....and gradually reduce them in size to a grain of sand!

And I still do not know why this particular beach is not entirely sand.

But if you want a more scientific explanation for the formation of rocks, click here.
And as far as how sand is formed, click here and here.
