Contemplative Monday

"Having children has become more about bringing parents satisfaction than creating independent human beings." by Mara Hvistendahl

  5. Happy Birthday, Jim. I hope your day is the best! The book sounds interesting, though it's a premise that I had never even considered.

  6. I believe there are a lot of people like me, that are going to be happy with whatever we get. I would never even consider gender selection. JMHO.

Happy Birthday! I thought you were going to write something deep, about getting older and being as young as you feel and Birthdays being just a date on the calendar. Hmmmm

  13. To answer Mara Hvistendahl, "Maybe". I did adopt because I wanted children and 90% of the time, the kids do bring me satisfaction. But I hope she's wrong about the creating independent human beings part. I would hate to think that I am keeping them from "becoming". Now I need to look her up and see how her kids turned out. That is, if she had any.
I'm sad that I was away during your birthday. I hope it was the best one ever. I'm sorry that you're not old enough to get Birthday greetings from your Representatives. Mark
