A Necessity

You may have noticed that we are never too far from water....be it a river, lake or ocean.

Ron and Sophie on the shore of Point Pleasant Park, Halifax last month.

Actually Ron and I met, where else?, in a pool!   Being a swimmer in university,

Ron swims like a fish. And he taught me to 'keep up' when in water.

When we moved west we both agreed that there had to be an ocean near by.........

so we chose Vancouver, British Columbia. And I guess it wouldn't be surprising

that we found a place to live that was a 'rocks throw' away from the Pacific Ocean!

We are both very comfortable and at ease near the ocean. And how fortunate we are

to have a dog who is equally, if not more, content to be in or around water of any kind.

  1. Water, as necessary as the air we breathe. Lovely photos, and what a perfect place for you all to live, so close to the water you all enjoy so very much. Super pics, as always. Cheers from Jean

  2. I can SO understand this need.
Spent most of my adult life near the river.

  3. You all share that passion, Jim, and it's wonderful that you're able to enjoy it. I can certainly understand that need. I don't have the ocean nearby the way you do, but at least I'm near many, many lakes here in Ontario, which help fulfill that need.

  5. Great capturing of the tide, wonderful pictures. As they say 'no matter how big the sea, sometimes two ships meet!'

  6. I'm totally with you on that one. When we decided to buy a house water was a high priority, which is why I now live accross the street from the Ottawa river.

It is the first thing I see in the morning and the last at night. Right now it is almost frozen over and ice fishing is in full swing.

  7. A beautiful place, Jim - looking at those rocks, wonder how old they are.

Happy Birthday to Sophie, BTW, I hope it's special!

  8. And, thankfully, Sophie's the only one of the three of you crazy enough to go in that cold water!

  12. Hi Jim! Terry promised me a beach at least once a year; but with you, Sophie, and Ron, I feel like I'm getting a beach a day! I love it! I especially miss the winter ocean and rocky beaches. Don't get this wrong because I love T's beaches, but they tend toward warm, sandy, and tropical. Hey - and he's taking me back to the North Shore of Hawaii in May. I wish I could see the big waves that have been happening there the past few weeks. Stay warm and dry!
