Eclectic Tastes

Today is my father's 97th birthday.
I was curious what songs were popular back in 1916,
so I found this one, maybe not the most uplifting song
for this summer day but gives us a glimpse of
what type of songs were being sung so long ago.

Am off to a party later today to celebrate this special day with Dad.
Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday (or Monday
if you are in New Zealand or Australia).

  1. Ow, wow! My grandmother used to sing that song, I have not heard it since I was a child. It slightly gave me the chills to hear it!
Hope your dad has had a wonderful birthday!

  2. Birthday Greetings to your Dad, still Sunday here, in NZ, but Monday in 4 hours time. Celebrate in style, a grand age, and a wonderful song to remember what was popular so long ago. Lovely of you to mention New Zealand, that makes me feel so special, you have no idea how much, many , many thanks. Enjoy your time together. Fond greetings to all, Jean.

I find the song a little sad but one that 'stays' with you.

  7. Wow! 97! That is wonderful, Jim. Please wish him a happy birthday for me and give him a big hug for me, too. The oldest person we ever fit with a hearing aid was 103... And yes, she walked into our office with no problems. I think it's amazing how some older people are (or seem to be) much younger that those 30 and 40 years younger. Your dad still looks great! I'm sure you all will have a good time. Pictures, please? Have fun!
