387

Over the Thanksgiving weekend we were travelling through the Gaspereau Valley.
It was a beautiful afternoon. Ahead of us in a pasture, of sorts, I noticed a herd of cattle.
I pulled over onto the shoulder of the road. It had been quite a while since I photographed one of these critters.
Let me introduce 387 to you . He was curious and came up to the fence to take a good look at me.
And I returned the gesture.

  1. And since they don't move very fast (most of the time) you can get some really good shots! Like you just did.

  5. Makes me think of No. 6 from "The Prisoner" -- "I . . . am . . . not . . . a . . . NUMBER!"

  8. Awww, I felt sorry for that cow. I think it is because he was given a number rather than a name. That makes me a saddo doesn't it?!

  9. Debra and Annie, I was wondering who was going to look at this post from this angle......I was going to do an entirely different post originally but chose to leave it 'open'. This WAS one sad looking cow....the number said it all. Makes ya think about the whole meat-eating industry.

  10. Maybe we should start a campaign to save 387. It looks like he was trying to communicate with you, Jim. Bottom line, he shouldn't be a meal ticket...I think he looks more like a runway model in a cow costume. Regardless, beautiful poses from 387 and you did a nice job with the camera too!
