Under The Influence

From my 'perch' at the shop on Wednesday afternoon,
I noticed that Ron and Sophie had arrived to pick me up.
I was surprised at how quickly that day went by.
Not that it was busy, but because I am in the middle of a good book.....
'East Of Eden' by John Steinbeck.
There are a few crazy characters in this book, I tell ya!

As I took this photo I couldn't help but see how the sea affects
and influences our lives here.
It gives us comfort and calmness.

  1. I am sure I have read that book many years ago, but just looked up a summary of it and barely remember it . In one ear and out the other, as they say!!
Pouring rain here again this morning…….not looking forward to 2 wet dogs after morning walk. I have been looking after a " yorkie" for the last 2 months as well as my own schnauzer. Yorkie doesn't mind a coat, but Alexi stands stock still if I put his on him and hard to get him to move. He might just have to get very wet. Also, just realised I only have one harness that will go over a coat, so little one will have to have it. Hope your weather is better than ours.

    1. Our weather, Frances, is almost perfect.....with the exception of yesterday we got the remnants of Hurricane Patrica (on the west coast!!)....lots of rain.
Here's hoping the two dogs are getting along. Sophie doesn't mind at all having on a coat. We only use one in the extreme cold.
      Have a great day.

  2. I grew up by the sea ~ now the mountains do the same for me. Give me calm and peace. There was something about the sea that make me melancholy, even as a young person. It never went away, even here by the great Pacific Ocean. I don't know why this was, but it does not happen with the desert or the mountains.

  3. "East of Eden!" Thanks for bringing that up. I'm going to download it tonight. That photo of Ron and Sophie is wonderful.

  4. I've never read East of Eden, but I saw the movie staring James Dean. I'm not a Steinbeck fan.

    Love,
    Janie
