Contemplative Monday

THE DETOX PERIOD
(Taken from 'Heart Advice: Weekly Quotes From Pema Chodron)

"When you refrain from habitual thoughts and behavior, the uncomfortable feelings will still be there.

They don't magically disappear.

Over the years, I've come to call resting with the discomfort "the detox period",

because when you do not act on your habitual patterns, it's like giving up an addiction.

You're left with the feelings your trying to escape.

The practice is to make a wholehearted relationship with that."

    1. It sure is! Just like an addiction. IO guess that is what they say about alcoholism, that urge stays forever, but one can get used to that feeling without acting on it.
It was a quiet Thanksgiving today after a great meal at my brother's last evening.
