THE PERFECTION OF PATIENCE

" Patience is not learned in safety.

It is not learned when everything is harmonious and going well.

When everything is smooth sailing, who needs patience?

If you stay in your room with the door locked and the curtains drawn,

everything may seem harmonious, but the minute anything doesn't go your way, you blow up.

There is no cultivation of patience when your pattern is to just try

to seek harmony and smooth everything out.

Patience implies willingness to be alive

rather than trying to seek harmony."

Above quote taken from 'Heart Advice' Weekly Quote from Pema Chodron.

    1. You're a RIOT Alice!!! LOL!
Actually Mitch, this one has come in so handy 'on the homefront' (family) lately. Love the idea that keeping things 'harmonious' all the time doesn't create patience.

  5. Patience takes a lot of practice! A lot of that practice came from raising my kids.

  6. I have a pattern of just trying to find harmony and peace...it's so true that it doesn't cultivate patience. It usually results in me trying to ignore something until I am steaming mad about it and then the only thing that results is for from patience, peace, or harmony...good post for the start of a new week:)

    1. Isn't it funny how we all think that if we ignore the 'tough' times we will stay patient all the time. But that doesn't work.
