From The Fence

The fence around the Halifax Public Gardens is a very old fence.

It must be near 100 years old if not older. Sophie and I walked around this garden fence on Sunday.

As dogs are not permitted inside, we stopped at various points along the perimeter  and looked in.

Paths have always intrigued me...their shape, where they lead, well-traveled or not.

In spite of many people in the Gardens, this one path was mostly untraveled this particular day.

  1. You've changed your photographic style - maybe the same techniques .... but something is different ....? New camera? New lens or a change in style?

    1. Very observant John! These photos were 'manipulated' through Picasa sing HDR format......alters the image slightly. Same camera, lens and same me!

    1. Thanks Fiona. It was fun taking shots from the 'outside' of the gardens, looking in.

  3. You probably looked like a private detective snapping photos from behind that fence. No wonder no one came down that path.

  5. Interesting shots with the various blurs. Did you get some shots of the fence further back? Tranquil walking paths.

    1. It can be very tranquil on certain paths. You know what Sharon, I didn't get any shots of the fence from afar. I have to learn to take photos like this. I always feel more comfortable close up. That is a good enough reason to do otherwise. Thanks Sharon.

    1. It is Mitch. When I was in university I worked there for a couple of summers and learned a lot about the basics of gardening.

  7. Poetic camera work there, Jim. And I bet Sophie wanted to go explore where she wasn't welcome.

    1. Thanks Inger. Yes Sophie wanted to get inside at every chance but she did sit still while I was taking these shots. She is happy as long as one of us is around!!
