Eclectic Tastes

I didn't know that this piece was written by Canadian, Buffy Sainte-Marie.
I continue to admire and respect this woman for her perseverance
in bringing the indigenous peoples' culture to the forefront.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

  1. The most perfect song for me this week, love her voice, a wonderful lady, born in the great vintage year of 1940, YES,me too, and after looking at some more on Google, how could we not be in awe and admire Buffy Sainte-Marie so very much. This song was my favourite. Have a wonderful week, up North where the snow falls.

  2. She mentions Jennifer Warnes in her introduction. I have an album of hers on which she sings Leonard Cohen songs and I really must try and find it again, as it is a beautiful collection of songs sung in her lovely voice. I think the title has something to do with the " blue raincoat" . ( I love Leonard too! )
Still only rain here, though we do get the occasional sunny day. Have a good Sunday when you get to it. I shall be doing lots of ironing this morning after a damp dog walk. It is my weekly chore that I do while listening to " The Archers" omnibus on the radio. Have you heard of " The Archers"?

  3. Bubby Sainte-Marie!!! Thanks for this sweet memory. I happened to be at a taping of the Tonight Show in New York during a tour of Rockefeller Center when I was a summer camp counselor (it must have been the late '60s, but maybe early '70s). We happened to arrive just in time to hear her sing. What a real and pure voice (and talent)! And this song was so classy when she sang it... a bit too schmaltzy for my tastes when sung by anyone else (even Joe Cocker, whom I love).

    1. I so agree, Mitch. It was good to hear her sing this, her way.
How lucky were you to actually see her 'live'!

  4. Oh my, I got quite emotional listening to this song, especially as last week I came upon 20 plus Eagles in one location here on Vancouver Island.

  5. Yeah, she won an Oscar for Best Song for it too. I've only seen her in concert once, about 25 years ago at a pow-wow in Manitoba. Great concert!
