Saturday Morning Post

A week in November......

Yesterday I set up a 'crystal display' at the shop.

Yesterday was my mother's birthday. She would have been 94. This photo was taken in 1939.

Long stretch over the dunes to the beach.

At the shop....

A lamp heading to the shop.

Lustreware and Carnival glass at the shop.

We have a name now for the 'devil child'! It is 'Ricky'. Thanks Martha!

Ron took this photo of a Heron and a flock of ducks at the salt marsh.

Then there was light! Last Sunday from my 'perch' at the shop.

A 'ghost dog'?

This made us smile the other day when we were stopped at a light.
Ron and I met in the summer of July '73.
ETE is French for 'summer'.

  1. Your Mum and your crystal, I can see my little display has stirred you to things so much bigger and better. My other crystal pieces are also from my Mum, my Aunt, my Mum-in-law, and a friend. A beautiful lady on the shoreline, you will send her birthday greetings I'm sure. Jean.

    1. These pieces were all Ron's mother's pieces and they have been in a box for 16 years now. And we have no need and/or space for them.
My mother loved being nearing the shore. She got a lot of peace there.

  7. A ghost dog! Very cool. All the images are fabulous. Many of them have a retro feel, which takes me way, way back in time. I love the photo of your mom. What a cutie she was. And you went with the name 'Ricky'! Love it. And I'm flattered that you chose a name I suggested. Do I get to be the godmother to this devil child? LOL...

  8. Your crystal display is very festive. Nice picture of your mother, you favor her.
Ricky is a good name for that era. The beach looks cold.

Yes, Mom and I were close....didn't always agree on everything but could relate to eachother.
Just got back from the beach with Sophie....yes, it is as cold as it looks! Not made for the likes of you 'southern Americans'!! lol

  9. Your Mother was lovely!

And I would leave Ricky in the shop at night, who knows what he does when the lights go out --- They make movies about dolls like him and Twilight Zone episodes too! ;-)

  10. So much to LOVE here! Are the things in your shop from your basement? I remember you had a lot of stuff. It looks just lovely and must be so much fun. The ghost dog is fabulous and the license plate even better.

    1. Most of the stuff is from the basement, Inger, with a few added things. And it is fun. I only work on Sundays and enjoy meeting people. All's good.
