Saturday Morning Post

MacDonald Hill as seen from the beach.
My shop is in that house just right of centre.

First freeze-0ver of pond at the Point Pleasant Park yesterday.

Even too cold for Sophie!

During storms and very high tides, these stones are tossed way up over the dunes.

Ron and Sophie waiting for me.

In and out.

Someone placed these three stones to have a perfect view.

Wood, grass and rocks.

The ducks are on the pond......(to quote my high school vice-principal from the 60's).

On a cold November day along the boardwalk.

Spectacular sunsets lately.

End of the line for this dune grass.

  1. Your photos have always been incredible. I can't believe that have actually gotten even better. Simply stunning... well, except for seeing you all bundled up again. Just looking at you makes me want to go get a sweater!

    1. Thanks Mitchell. You know, I think I am becoming more relaxed when 'shooting' and more spontaneous. I learned this from Ron watching him when he has camera in hand.
It is getting very cold here now......it will take another few weeks to adjust TO THE FROZEN HAND AND FACE!!!

  3. Oh Jim these are so spectacular, they take my breath away, that's it next life i will insist on being born in NS, in Halifax or anywhere that has what you show so brilliantly, I will ask even if we're not allowed, that we go where we are meant to. I've seen heaven, I've had my share of hell, the Universe knows it, and although I'm doing my best minute by minute, i will still ask....Bless you for sharing these Jim x

    1. Won't hurt to ask at all, Lorraine. You just may be walking the beaches of Nova Scotia in one of your 'next lives'.

  5. This is a wonderful collection, Jim! The frost on the pond ~ gorgeous! Poor SD looks downright dejected with her four tootsies in the waves, and she's not looking too perky walking along the boardwalk with Mr. Orangie in her mouth. I wish I had been there with you. Days like these make me feel vibrantly alive! You have such an eye for light, color, texture, and composition. Thank you for filling my heart this morning!

    1. So happy you enjoyed these, Louise. Sophie will not venture into the ocean this time of year like she does in the summer....too COLD! We are having a very cold November.

    1. We three are all trying to adjust to the cold, Sharon. This year we are getting hit early. I am just in the process of ordering another winter supply of those 'hand-warmers' that you hold inside gloves/mitts. They are perfect for here.

  9. My mind goes to the story of the flock of ducks on the pond. The temperature dropped so fast and the pond froze so quickly that when the ducks flew away, they took the pond with them, frozen to there feet. I hear that pond is now somewhere over MacDonald Hill.
