Saturday Morning Post

The 'ice show' continued this past week.

Trees at Birch Cove Park in Dartmouth yesterday.

Sophie being her patient self.....waiting for us.

Colourful shops at Fisherman's Cove in Eastern Passage.

Thanks for the reminder! Br-r-r

It was sheer ice all the way round this boardwalk in Eastern Passage.

Looking towards Lawlor Island......over the ice and across the water/channel.

A shot of Devil's Island looking through a picnic shelter.

Getting 'a grip'! This is how we managed this week.
These grippers are GREAT!

Time to head back to the car and then home.

    1. Thanks Martha. Most of us Canadians know what cold is, eh? Funny though, this time of year we start to get used to it!!

  5. love your shots but they make me feel cold just looking at them! those are some very interesting looking shoe grippers. Where do you get those, and what are they called? Would love to get a pair and send them to my cousin.

    1. We got one pair, Yaktrax, the ones Ron uses and swears by, at a local Sportswear/Equipment store. But they have them at Amazon.com I see as well.
Jeanne, it does and is cold but very bearable now that we are getting used to it. A balmy -2C today!!

  6. I don't remember you got so much ice other winters. Is this unusual? It's pretty when it sparkles but so dangerous for walking. Sophie looks warm enough in her purple cloak. I've been searching high and low for my grippers and can't find them. They're so good for walking on the street after its been plowed.

    1. This has been a very unusual winter for us, Barb, you are right. Usually we have snow, it goes away, and we have more snow. This time it snowed, rained on top of it, snowed again and froze everything for a month!!
Sophie's coat keeps her warm....as much as she doesn't think so! lol
Hope you find the grippers soon. We think they are the 'cat's meow' this winter. I, nor does anybody, do not need another blow to the head!!

  8. I LOVE that 3rd shot! Terry and I have those same grippers! They save your butt on ice! That cold blue water holds its own against the colorful shops in Fisherman's Cove. So very cold!

  9. The tree branches make such a beautiful lacy pattern against that brilliant blue sky.

  10. My two favourite things in the world, the ocean, and trees, and diamond covered trees, as long as they are sturdy enough to stay put lol
