Contemplative Monday

The following quote is from 'The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh' (click).
It is published by 'Shambhala Pocket Classics'.

PEACE WORK

"Life is filled with suffering, but it is also filled with many wonders,
such as the blue sky, the sunshine, and the eyes of a baby.

To suffer is not enough.
We must also be in touch with the wonders of life.

They are within us and all around us, everywhere, anytime."

  1. Great shots Jim and i do love Thich nhat Hanh. Hope that you have a great week. Enjoy that snow... it is so beautiful, but guess I will have to suffer through our 70 degree weather in Texas and just enjoy the photos of others.

  3. Awesome quote, Jim. I think the key to happiness in this life is noticing and appreciating all the small wonders that surround us every day, like your snow on the grass. Your video/song for Debra yesterday was probably my favorite of any you've ever posted. I love Leonard Cohen, but what sucked me totally in were those magnificent horses. I think horses are the most beautiful creatures on Earth even if they scare the hell out of me. And Al Pacino! He's kind of beautiful too. "Scent of a Woman" ~ one of my all time favorite movies! Have a great day, Jim!

    1. The 'small' things are the 'big' things in life.....at least in my books they are.
Wasn't that the best produced video?! And those horses! Wild and untamed....just like a good tango!

  5. Your photos tell of the appreciation of small wonders that Thich Nhat Hanh discusses. If we don't find the blessings, we are sometimes overwhelmed by the suffering.
