House Bound.......

After venturing out late Tuesday afternoon looking for traction sand
for the driveway, we realized that we should have stayed at home.

So yesterday we did. The roads were still a skating rink
and we decided to hunker down and stay inside.

You can see what we did.
Scrabble!

We have played this game a lot in the past.
It has been a few years since we played
and it was the perfect way to pass away the time.
I always lose at this game. Ron always wins.
That's just the way it's always been.

Until yesterday that is!

  1. Have you ever played " Bananagrams" ? We play with our pals when we have had a few drinks, and it is great fun. Much faster than scrabble which is why I like it. ( I can't bear waiting half an hour while the other half thinks of the best possible scoring word) We woke to snow this morning, but only a bare covering, and it is fast melting at 9am.

    1. Never heard of Bananagrams, Frances. Will take a look.
I know, that waiting period to place your word! And then your opponent takes your spot!!

    2. Let me know how you get on......I assume it would be available in Canada. It costs no more than £15 in UK...can be got for less!!

  3. Great plan to stay home and stay warm and cozy. You know the weather is bad when you have to stay home in Canada! Texas is always so totally unprepared for even the tiniest snow. If there is a half inch of anything here, you need to stay home as no one knows how to drive, and not much is done with the roads. Stay warm and enjoy the outside beauty. That scrabble game looks like a great bad weather occupation!

    1. When we lived in Vancouver, Jeanne, it was the same thing....when it snowed a little the city fell to pieces!
We just may have a few more scrabble games before this winter is done.

  4. Ha ha, congrats! I'm the world's worst scrabble player. I'm only interested in trying to make dirty words with my tiles. I wish that comment was an exaggeration but it's not.

    1. Then Debra, set the rules before the game to accommodate your 'interest'. Could be a very eye-opening game!! lol

  5. Sometimes you just have to stay home. After an epic battle with the snow on Monday, I've been fortunate to stay home myself. A walk around the neighborhood looking for a place for Pugsley to do his business is as far as I have ventured.
Congrats on your win. Persistence pays off.

    1. Oh I know. Lorraine. The ole dictionary rule.....sometimes we do and sometimes we don't use a dictionary. When we want to enlarge out meager vocabulary, we use one.

  8. Oh, how I miss playing Scrabble with The Hurricane. When she visited during college breaks, we played every night. One night she would win by a few points. The next night I would win by a few points. We usually used every tile. It was fun to play because we were so evenly matched. You stay at home and don't go sliding on the ice. You have to stay safe.

    Love,
    Janie

  9. Jim - deja vu - a week ago, I got out the Scrabble game and challenged my Granddaughter who will turn 12 this week. She was a formidable opponent - I only won by a few points. Grammy needs to keep her wits about her!
