Thinking Out Loud

Wonder what it is that keeps some of us from trying new things?

Like surfing!

Hundreds of these surfers go by our place weekly on their way to the beach.

They come in all shapes and sizes, gender, and age.

So there is really no excuse why I (we) haven't 'bit the bullet'!

Surfers experience something special when they are out there on their own

with just their board and the Atlantic Ocean under them.

There is just no excuse, well, except for the freezing water most of the year.

You see, the fanatic/dedicated surfers surf all year round here.

So there must be something they know that I don't.

I wished i lived close to the Ocean. OK, 40-50 minutes isn't that bad , but i would love to be a lot closer .

  5. I think you have to start young - when you think you're "immortal".

I think I would have if it the opportunity had presented itself when I had guts.

Some people are into polar ice plunges too, they have to be certifiable.

  6. never considered it. Not knowing how to swim may have something to do with my decision to just observe!

    1. Yes Joanne, that would do it for me too!! I am a good swimmer but still hesitated to take this sport on. It is great to watch though especially when they 'catch' a good wave.

  7. Way back when I was an island girl, I surfed. The water was warm! I don't think I would have ever surfed in cold water, lol!

    1. And I wouldn't blame you one bit, Terry!
I am wondering if surfing and riding have any similarities? Balance, control, good surface and better in warm weather!!

    2. Maybe it's feeling the power of something mightier than yourself, if only for a ride.

    3. Good point. Well then, seeing as Horses and I don't 'hit it off' that well, I better start waxing up the surf board!! lol
