Summer Saturday

Officially it is still summer here in Nova Scotia.
I noticed the other day that the grass at the river was starting to get a golden hue.

As we are heading into autumn let's take one more look at the beautiful remnants of summer at the river.

  1. Still pretty though. Yep you can almost tell to the month what it is. Subtle changes to the greens during the summer. May is a new green, June is a fresh green, July it's summer green, August is dirty green and September it's drab, dying green. October it's not so much green... ;-)

    1. You are so right Sharon. The green in May is tender and delicate, while at this time of year things are hardened and drying out. Hey, much like life in general, wouldn't you say?

  2. I think so too Jen....each season has it's own type of beauty.

    1. You too must be noticing a lot of changes this time of year Fiona? Sweden is a little further north than Nova Scotia so I guess you are into 'fall' already.

  6. it is great that you can notice the seasons up there. here in southern california, the most that i notice is that it is getting dark earlier at night and staying dark later in the morning. but not so much change in the greenery, sadly, because we don't have as much as you do there! i also "mark" fall as the first day that i have to wear a jacket on my bike ride to work in the morning. that day will not come for awhile.

    1. The closest I got to 'seasonless' was when we lived in Vancouver and the leaves did fall off trees but stayed relatively (I said relatively) mild during the 'winter months'.
I think if I remember correctly it is greener the further one goes north in California.

  8. I just love this in-between time, it seems to be a season all it's own...September. My in-laws left today for a cruise that will take them to your beautiful shores...

    1. Really? Then they must be coming to Halifax because this is the season for cruise ships to come up from New England area to the Maritimes. I guess they (Tourism Nova Scotia) expect a record number of cruise ships this year.

I really like this time of year too Joanne.....it is up there with spring but this is more a time of reflection and 'getting ready'....for whatever!

  9. This is the way to get me to read your site. Just post pictures from your life. Good pictures like these, I mean. I love going for a stroll along your river from my desk chair in Kansas.
