Sunday Reflections

We took a walk along the Gaspereau Canal yesterday morning.

As I have mentioned on a previous post, it is one of our favourite places to walk.

Sophie has been coming here since she was very little and she is up and down into the Canal as fast as we can throw her ball.

All year round the Canal reflects the plant growth that borders it. With a few ripples, the reflections are quite distorted and lovely.

Reminds me of a Matisse painting.

I wonder if he saw everything with this effect.

Interesting to imagine.

Love how the birch trees are but squiggles.

Oh to be able to paint and capture this.

But I guess I did.

With the camera.

Have a reflective Sunday.

  1. Absolutely gorgeous! I love it here, but I do miss water. Thank you for sharing yours.

  2. Very lovely! What a beautiful place to walk and just relax in nature!

  3. I just finished my post of almost the same name as yours. While you have water, I have clouds. Isn't nature wonderful? You could have been in Monet's garden. Those reflections could have been in a pond right next to his waterlilies. And, yes,you did capture it with your camera. And it helped calm my mind this morning. Thank you, my friend.

  4. It's so easy to get lost in those reflections. I appreciate a photo of such things even more than a painting. It really takes you there.

  5. hi! allo! bonjour!

first time here, jim.. your photos are AWESOME. i have always wanted to visit "the great white north".. it's amazing to be able to get a glimpse via your photos. i loved the ripple ones, i think you captured them beautifully. i read some of your earlier posts and i feel like we have many similar views on things. i look forward to following your blog and reading what you post.

my name is christine and i go by C.. but you can call me whatever you want, just dont call me late for dinner... ;)

  6. Wow, these are very cool pictures.

And...that little dinging sound on your blog? It took me so long to figure out it was actually from my computer and not from something else going on in the room or outside!

  7. Beautiful pictures, so calm and peaceful. Reflections on water draw you in, somehow. You're lucky to have so many different kinds of bodies of water near you.

  8. love the photos AND the cornwall painting...although I do prefer the more art deco type paintings!!!

  9. I remember when you went there, the place has still retained it's charm!
    C'mon Sophie, let's dive in!

  10. I would love to take a walk along the canal. You did capture the the beauty and atmosphere of the place in the photos. I like the painting too.It seems to tell a story.

  11. Wonderful pictures. What a lovely place to walk. Is Sophie a Chesapeake Bay Retreiver? or a Choc Lab perhaps? We have a Choc Lab whom we love very much!

thanks for stopping by my blog :)

  12. Absolutely love that canal reflection and I would love the opportunity to paint it - may have a try using your photographs as a blue print, if you don't mind, that is?

  13. Totally stunning - I showed my husband & he said Nova Scotia - New Scotland beautiful. He is a Scot.

  14. Interesting how you look at it: pool of water reflecting the art of life. Beautiful.

  15. Oh my gosh those pics were magnificent. WOW!!!
