The Art Pro on Retro Saturday

I remember when I first watched Sister Wendy's TV series, I was totally amazed at her knowledge of art and more so at her appreciation for it.

She has a very relaxing manner and a confidence that is reassuringly humble in a way.

If you have not seen Sister Wendy before and you would like to learn about 'art', then she is the one to do it!

There are a number of videos on You Tube and I am sure PBS may have copies of her series for sale.

I could listen to and learn from her for hours........

  1. I loved this! How sad that Van Gogh's life ended the way it did. This post has caused me to want to learn more... thanks for sharing Jim.

Bobbi, I am glad you liked this. Sister Wendy is so full of knowledge! I guess I am 'old school' still about nuns and what they know.

  3. Never heard of Sister Wendy and I do watch a lot of PBS. Guess at the wrong time. It was an interesting video. The wonderful thing about art, you see what you want to see, whether the picture is what the painter intended. I see the picture as a want/need to have a cozy room, a place of to be one's self. I like it.

  4. Great little video. Now I have something else to check out on YouTube, as if I already didn't spend enough time doing that.

    1. When you can't get out for whatever reason, she is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to art/artists and their intentions along with her interpretation of it. You may like it Inger.
Hope your weekend is going well.

  6. I've heard of her, but never seen her before. My impression of the room was of a cozy littl nest, but after listening to Sister Wendy, I'm not so sure. Maybe it's really a cage. Very interesting.
