Eclectic Tastes

The jive was the first dance I learned at about age 12.
My oldest sister taught me because she needed to practice
before she went out to dances on Saturday nights.
It is my favourite dance.
Thanks sis!

Here are two professionals doing the jive.
enjoy and have a wonderful Sunday.

What is your favourite type of dance?

  1. I used to love to jive…though much more "sedately " than those two in the video. I had to forgo it years ago, while my knee was bad ( been operated on 5 years ago) but now my husband/jive partner has a bad knee so we still can't do it! We were out at a Xmas " do" last night, but the tiny dance floor was so crowded we could only jig about on the spot anyway. The live singers were called "2tone" and we have seen them several times before. Ryan also sings with a band called " Soulfish" and has some wonderful dance moves, but they were just using backing tracks last night. Everyone thought they were great. (They are on tube if you fancy a look) Have you got snow yet? Lots of rain here in the south, but the north of England has had snow very recently. Enjoy your Sunday. X

    1. Oh yes, 'the jig about on the spot', Frances. Know it well! Came in handy for those packed dance floors!
That band sounds really good. Can't beat live bands.
No snow here yet but the forecast for Monday night and into Tuesday doesn't look good......chance of it being just rain along the coast here. Fingers crossed!! But am ready for the snow too.
      Have a good week.

  2. I took a dancing class in college, "Folk Dances". I can do the grapevine and I can square dance! Not that I ever do that, mind you.

    1. I took square dancing as well, Kay G. I was a lot of fun once you learned 'the language'.

  4. Nothing like that when I had some dancing lessons. I started with the Maxina, the Volita, and the Waltz!!! That was the most energetic, superb jive I have seen. Just what the MAN ( from NS ) ordered for a Monday morning.

  5. I did the jive with my cousin at my aunt and uncle's wedding. I was about 5 and she was about 4. I know it's incredible, but we looked EXACTLY like Derek and Julianne — in my mind.
