Eclectic Tastes

Dolly Parton wrote this song in the early 70's, a fact of which I was not aware.

It of course was made a 'super hit' by the late Whitney Houston in the 90's.

At 66 years of age this very talented singer/songwriter is still going strong.

And I for one am happy she is.

Have a wonderful Sunday all.

  2. I always felt her version was better.
Funny thing.... I was driving past a billboard with her face on it, advertising her latest charity. Just then, I heard her voice talking on the radio talking about something else. Now here she is this morning.
    I've always loved her voice.

  7. A perfect start to my Monday morning at 5.45 a.m. Dolly seems to be ageless, her voice better over the years, such talent that she shares so willingly to all. Thank you for sharing Dolly with us. Greetings from Jean

    1. Well she says herself that she regularly 'does things' to prevent this. Hey, it works well for her!! I love her soul and warmth....oh yes, and her laughter.

  10. It is a beautiful song and I loved it when Dolly Pardon sang it--I saw in an interview years ago that she wrote the song to her one-time partner and mentor Porter Wagoner--That it was written to 'soften the blow' of their split.

  11. Hello Jim,
I also have this version, which I feel her soul more - even if I love both, she is a guilty pleasure of mine!!

  13. Yes, she wrote it for Porter Wagoner, even though he wasn't that nice to her, to be honest, She is such a classy lady, really she is. Don't let all that make-up and surgery fool you, she is the real deal. Very, very talented and from the South to boot! I loved her in the movie, "Nine To Five"! So funny! "Do you want me to hire a couple of wranglers and beat the S##@ out of him?"...My favorite line!
