Free To Be, Soon

Sometimes I wish that we in the LGBT community had a spokesperson with the impact, passion and articulation of either  a Martin Luther King or a Nelson Mandela when they were campaigning for the rights of their peoples.

It could have accelerated 'the fight' and maybe all of this would have been behind us and we would have been free to be who we are years ago without the threat of breaking any laws.

But I can 'feel it in the air' that this issue will be behind us very soon.

  1. As long as the Tories will be in power in Ottawa, I doubt it will ever be behind us. These folks have nightmares about us, or is it wet dreams?!?

    1. They have to be 'watched like hawks'. Hopefully the opposition will maintain things until the next election.

  2. I could see Australia turning soon. And the US can't be too far behind, even if it is state by state. Once that happens, I don't see Canada going backward.

  3. I have hope! Not the kind I voted on in 2008, but the real kind!

    1. Give it some time, oh impatient one!! I do hope you have joined a certain party so you can really affect change in this country, Canada that is. Now's the time!

  7. Given the Bloc Quebecois was a total wash out in the last campaign, I did indeed take part into that orange wave that swept up the country, well, Quebec actually... My old allegiance, as I did mention on my blog. Comes a time when you have to make choices and take a [different] stand.

    1. Are you voting in the NDP leadership next month? I'd be interested who you think is a good candidate. I keep waivering between Brian Topp and Nathan Cullen....with a quick glance at Peggy Nash. I went to the debate when they were in Halifax and there were only a few that I thought could take on Harper.
