Contemplative Monday

THE COURAGE TO WAIT

"When you are like a keg of dynamite about to go off,

patience means just slowing down at that point----

just pausing----

instead of immediately acting on your usual, habitual response.

You refrain from acting,

you stop talking to your self,

and then you connect with the soft spot.

But at the same time you are completely

and totally honest with yourself

about what you are feeling.

You're not suppressing anything;

patience has nothing to do with suppression.

In fact, it has everything to do

with a gentle, honest relationship with yourself."

The above quote comes from 'Heart Advice'--Weekly Quotes from Pema Chodron. This particular quote is from her book: Practicing Peace In Times Of War.

  4. It's always a good idea to wait before reacting. You might feel differently about something when a little time has passed, and you've calmed down, and had a chance to think things through. Great quote and beautiful photos.

    1. Yes, but this is a difficult one to do sometimes. I would so want to deny certain things about myself sometimes.

  11. The order of your photos fits your words so perfectly. You start with the detail, and slowly see the whole picture.

    1. Terry, it is funny how that happens! It really wasn't planned that way when doing this post. When I take the photos there is some kind of sequencing going on in my brain, I guess, I hope....lol
