Contemplative Monday

Thinking about my mother, Mary Florence MacIsaac Cuvelier today....
she would have been 96.

Saturday Morning Post

Settling into fall......

Soph: 'Jim, what's keeping you?'

I guess she thought I was missing all the action/waves at the beach!

Surfers were taking advantage of  it.....

.....and the waves were crashing in front of us.

At the park yesterday....Sophie on lead due to leg injury she got at day care.

I love 'nursing logs' like the one above.
They provide so much nutrition to the environment.

.....not to mention the beauty of them.

I wondered if this was edible but wasn't about to chance it!

The grassy dunes at the beach are ready for what is ahead....ice and snow.

This young larch tree was golden all over....

TIMBER! .....future 'nursing logs' at the park.

Twenty-four brand new hours are before me.
I vow to live fully in each moment
and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion."

Saturday Morning Post

Last of the colour before all turns white.......

Aren't trees majestic!

Our Japanese Maples in their 'fall attire'....

Fall practice on Lake Banook in Dartmouth.....

The shop is on a 'loop' that cyclists use every weekend......weather permitting.

Thanks to the beach across the river this different shaped sand bar was created.
Taken from the shop.

Ships ahoy!...at the shop.

Shooting into the sun silhouettes are created.....

Banking to the left into the sunset....

This little park (Birch Cove) in the middle of Dartmouth
 (community/city across the harbour
from Halifax) is a gem.

The shop as the sun was setting.......

Saturday Morning Post

Quite the week....from the 'changing of the guard' in the USA
to the death of Leonard Cohen.

Remember these sweater/jackets for the late 50's and early 60's?
We called them Mary Maxim sweaters.
I think my mother made  a pile of them for me and my siblings.
Mine was white with blue eagles on front and back.
If you had one, what was yours?
This one we found at a thrift shop.

Ron capturing sun beams.....

Shock of colour....

On way up to a photo-shoot with falcon in hand/arm......
the other day from my perch at the shop.

Note the 'waxing gibbous' moon.....

The mist was almost perfect late afternoon on Wednesday....

Looking west from MacDonald Hill......

Saw this very strange fellow at the park on Thursday.

A view of the back garden taken from the house......
amazing how big things grow after 20+ years.

After the photo-shoot.....all was well with handler and falcon.

One of the first musical pieces I can remember as a child
is 'Darktown Strutter's Ball'.......
actually for years I thought it was 'Downtown Strutter's Ball'!

My father played it on the piano every Sunday
and my mother would sing the words so that the kids could learn them.

My dad can still play this....mind you with one hand only.
He says he has a hard time using both hands to play.
Considering he is 100 years old,
one hand is better than none at all.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Saturday Morning Post

Shades of tan......

Sophie and I heading down to Stony Beach to meet up with Ron.

Sophie is missing her 'summer romps' along the water's edge....

Ron was 'moss hunting' this week at the park.....he found some.

Two crows joy.....

Sand sea sun and sky

In the distance would be MacDonald House which is part of
this Nova Scotia Park system
and where my shop is located.

Fall walk.....

Yellow-leaf road.....

....at the crossroads....

Looking down......
