Contemplative Monday
HOLDING OUR SEAT
"Patience has a quality of honesty
and it also has a quality of holding our seat.
We don't automatically react, even though inside we are reacting.
We let all the words go,
and are just there with the rawness of our experience."

Eclectic Tastes
Stephen Halpern is a pioneer in 'healing music'........music that can make one feel better from the inside...out.
Give this try and let me know what you think.
If you have headphones, it may be better to use them, as there are some very low frequencies in this piece.

Retro Saturday
August 1973....Wolfville, Nova Scotia.....just began a 12 month degree
in Special Education at Acadia University.
Just met Ron in July. This was 'our' first album. We knew it backwards!
How I passed that year is anyone's guess.

The Beggar
I remember the day, years ago in Vancouver, B.C., when I followed a 'street person' around for a couple of hours........from a distance.
I was taking a course at UBC on photography. This particular week's assignment was 'people'.
From the start, he saw me and appeared not to care I was taking pictures of him. We nodded to each other.
I have the photos stored away somewhere but they aren't what is important here.
I was reminded of this a couple days ago as I was entering a deli to pick up two biscotti for our coffees. As I was entering I looked to my right and noticed a man sitting on the sidewalk, looking up at me.
He was probably younger than I but looked years older.
He wanted some money. I went over to him as I was digging into my pockets. I didn't have any change.
I told him I'd see him on the way out. And I did.
Whenever I see people begging for money I always give them something. Always have.
I can't imagine being in their shoes. Makes me wonder how they got there....what their story is.
I really don't care what they do with the money I give them. If it makes their day a little more bearable, then so be it.
Sometimes it is a very thin line that divides us all.

Thinking Out Loud
THE BALANCING ACT
Just like in life,
photography requires a little balancing.
Since OCD is my middle name, I always look for balance through the lens.
If I don't see it almost immediately or something close
I will abort the shot, and move on.
I suppose balance is in the eye of the beholder.
I like a shot to 'sit' right and be easy for the observer to look at.
I guess one's photos reflect how one lives or at least attempts to.
I have always been for balance in my life.
It makes life a tad easier in so many ways.
Extremes are necessary at times but can you imagine living extremely all the time?
I really think we all want our lives to have a little of this and a little of that.....
just the right amounts of each.
The key is finding those correct amounts
that your life requires at the time.
I am definitely finding that the older I get, the easier it gets,
finding that balance.
