Everyone was walking/hiking at the park this week.....

Christmas morning......no rush to get dinner prepared as we, for the first time,
had it prepared for us at a great caterer in Halifax......will do it again.

Actually, after picking up our Christmas dinner on the 24th we stopped in to see
my sister, Mary, and her boss, Tim at their shop in the city.

Sophie was very pleased with her gift from Santa....meet Buster everyone!

At the beach on Christmas Day....

Sophie always waiting for one of us....

What can I say?!

Having some editing fun....

Windy and cold at the beach on Christmas day....

Looks like I am standing in the water....but trust me, I am not.

In the beach/dune grass...

Sophie gets lost in this grass.....almost.

Yesterday was my sister, Mary's, birthday and a few of us met at
a restaurant in Halifax to celebrate.....
left to right: Colin, Brynn (my sister's daughter), Mary, brother Dennis,
Mary's partner Michael, moi and Ron.

Hope you all have a New Year's Eve of your choosing!

These stars are in one of the shop's windows overlooking the Atlantic....

Sophie in her element....

Before leaving the shop one early evening this week....

Eclectic Tastes

This past Friday afternoon I dropped by my father's 'home'
at the veteran's hospital and he was with a group of other guys
in the sun room.
With them were two music therapists handing out musical
instruments to everyone....including me.
I chose a tambourine.

One of the therapists was playing piano and the other a mandolin.
They started with a few Christmas tunes and a couple of ones the guys requested.
We all accompanied the music with our instruments.

It was a delightful time......watching how these men responded
each in their own way and capability.
The best time I had all week.

Not a Christmas tune today but one that obviously came to mind.....

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Saturday Morning Post

This past week started with a family gathering for our annual Christmas party....

Yes, that is my 100 year old father feeding his newest Great-grandson, Chase.

Then an earlier than usual winter set-in here in Nova Scotia...

It all started on Wednesday with rain turning to snow turning to rain...

Then snow on Thursday and that's when the cold temperatures hit as well....
today with the windchill it was -25C.

This was last Saturday....a typical bright sunny cool day...bearable.

So, let's stay inside and visit my shop Mid-Century Maniac....

Mostly mid-century dishes by Homer Laughlin who designed
Fiesta ware.

Crystal is always popular at Christmas....

I like this Pine Cone set....

In the kids corner....Winnie and Raggedy Ann

Vintage coffee carafes....

An antique 3-slat rocker

Hello!! Calling all jazz enthusiasts....

I LOVE this kitty! He is definitely a feral cat (check out that ear!!)

Check out this bow to a carved wooden ship.......probably not 'sea-worthy'

Contemplative Monday

“There is a story of a woman running away from tigers. She runs and runs and the tigers are getting closer and closer. When she comes to the edge of a cliff, she sees some vines there, so she climbs down and holds on to the vines. Looking down, she sees that there are tigers below her as well. She then notices that a mouse is gnawing away at the vine to which she is clinging. She also sees a beautiful little bunch of strawberries close to her, growing out of a clump of grass. She looks up and she looks down. She looks at the mouse. Then she just takes a strawberry, puts it in her mouth, and enjoys it thoroughly. Tigers above, tigers below. This is actually the predicament that we are always in, in terms of our birth and death. Each moment is just what it is. It might be the only moment of our life; it might be the only strawberry we’ll ever eat. We could get depressed about it, or we could finally appreciate it and delight in the preciousness of every single moment of our life.”
