Life Force

This time of year when we are all craving the sun's rays to replenish our vitamin D deficiency,

and to leave behind for a few months those gray, short winter days,

it is no wonder that my mind's eye is attracted to anything that sparkles.

Light has a force that is irresistible to most living creatures on this planet.

And I am one of them. The energy that sunlight produces is sometimes palpable,

especially this time of year. 

It is like walking through an energy field, getting wrapped in the spiraling swirl of life.

This series of photos was taken last week and I remember the feeling I had when I found

myself standing and looking at the splash of light in front of me.

I wanted to try and capture it.

These are SOOC (straight out of camera) photos

which didn't perfectly capture what I saw.

I've learned to not compete

with the 'life force'.

A Splash of Deco

Just couldn't resist these bowls yesterday when I saw them in a 'thrift shop'.

They are hand-painted by Myott. Son & Co. (England),

and do have a 'deco'  (click) look, don't you think?

Breaking Up

There's no turning back now! 

Once the ice starts to break up this time of year, 

 we know that in a few weeks winter will be history.

Well, for at least another year that is.

Not that I have anything against winter, I don't.

Give me cold, fresh air any day over hot humid weather.

Now maybe something in between would be perfect......

like the months of May and June here in Nova Scotia,

not too hot and not too cold.

I guess breaking up can be hard to do.

Saturday Morning Post

The week that was:

Brian, Carolyn and Ron 

On Thursday morning we arranged with our good friends, Carolyn and Brian, 

to meet at the Halifax International Airport.

They were 'seeing off' their daughter on her March Break to Manitoba.

Carolyn and Brian live in the neighbouring province of New Brunswick

and got up pretty early to get here. The Halifax flight was more convenient

than the ones offered in New Brunswick.

On a wall at the airport outside....Starbucks.

So while the daughter was in the boarding lounge waiting for her 'delayed'

flight to start boarding, we adults got a chance to catch up.

And that we did over lunch.

A very big globe-thingy at the airport.

Once we heard that 'daughter' was safe on board we headed back to our vehicles
and said our good-byes.

Carolyn and Ron

It is always so good to spend time with Carolyn and Brian. I have known her since 1973

when we were in university together.

And also she and Brian were our 'best woman and best man' 

at our marriage ceremony in 2009.

Moi....

 I don't normally post photos of myself...but Lisa from Chicago (click)

stated not too long ago that she wished I would! Why?! I have

no idea! But this is for you you Lisa! You see, I am old enough 

to be a grandfather! lol She will understand this!

So, on to Friday of this week:

I noticed a Canada Post truck in the parking lot at the Park

and I loved the pictures of stamps on it.

It was celebrating the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

I love the art work and the colours here......a job very well done I feel.

Funny thing is I had forgotten till now that one of the designers

who just happens to be Ellen Page's, the actress, father.

Sea Monster

One discovers a variety of things on a beach. 

This is something I saw yesterday.

And as soon as I took this photo

a wave came in and took it away.

It looks like a giant Q-tip!

When actually it is

seaweed with 

frozen tips.
