The Curve Ball

I remember when I was about 10 or 11 years old 'trying out'
for 'little league' baseball. I went with a few friends to the local
ball field and we did what we were asked to do to show our skills.

Some 'made the team', some didn't. I was one that didn't.
I learned a lesson that day.

And that lesson was that no matter how much in control of life
we feel we are, it will throw us a number of 'curve balls'
that we were just not expecting.

Winter at the boardwalk last week.

At first I couldn't 'catch' those curve balls due to lack of experience.
But life has its ways of teaching us to become masters of this art
of  acceptance.

Contemplative Monday

The following passage is from 'Heart Advice, Weekly Quotes from Pema Chodron'.

ONE INTENTION

"Whatever you are doing, take the attitude
of wanting it directly or indirectly
to benefit others.

Take the attitude of wanting it to
increase your experience of kinship
with your fellow beings."

Saturday Morning Post

This is the Fort Needham Memorial Bell Tower (click).

It was erected to commemorate those who lost their lives
in the Halifax Explosion of 1917. My Dad was a year old.

On the hour they chime. The other day when I was there
with Sophie they started and so did we!!

This overlooks the exact location in the harbour where
two ships loaded with ammunition for WWI collided.

The whole of the north end of Halifax was destroyed
and there were a lot of casualties. I had a few relatives
that did not survive.

Many years later I used to play here as my home was
but a couple minutes away.

It is a huge park that was paradise to many of us kids
in the neighbourhood.

This chime tower was not there when I was young
it was erected I believe in the 80's.

Positive Energy

Yesterday I found out that my niece Elaine is going through a health crises.

I spoke with her and she told me she had breast cancer and will have to have a mastectomy.

She is naturally very upset and could use prayers, positive energy sent her way.

Thanks so much.

From The Kitchen Window

Just liked the view the other day as I looked out onto the deck.

The shadows.......of a Spruce tree, and Tibetan Prayer flags doing 'their thing'.

Very quiet.

Very peaceful.......

on a cold February day.

And I just happened to pause

and noticed.
