Saturday Morning Post

Still no snow this week here in and around the city....knocking wood like a maniac!!

Poor Soph, always having to wait for us!!

This crow flew up to the top of this dead tree with a 'delectable morsel'
but waited till we passed by to eat it.

Sophie chillin with her 'babies'.

Hey, even a crane can look good after you 'dress-it-up' a little!

As I said.......

As night falls heading home through traffic.

Flights from Europe heading southwest above Nova Scotia.

'Hey guys, look what I found'!
This was in the Valley last month.

Getting your wires crossed?

Get Out Those Crayons

I am pretty sure that most of us loved to colour when we were kids....what kid didn't?

And hey, some of us adults still like to do it!

I wonder if a series of colouring books from different cities around the world
would catch on?
Maybe a little outdated for today's kids but an idea nonetheless.

Driving around Halifax the other day I was busy snapping photos in certain neighbourhoods.

What a great way to get to know one's city
and to become familiar with the different architectural styles of buildings.

I think the enjoyment in this would be the colouring of all these great old houses.

Surprise At work!

After brunch this past Saturday ,
Ron and I dropped by to visit our sister Mim who works nearby.

Mim (Mary) is a make-up artist and just started at this new shop in town.
We got the 'royal tour' and a few helpful hints about skin-care
for the coming cold winter months ahead.

But the BEST thing about seeing Mim
is this smile!!

'Some Girl-Time'

Knew that post title may get your attention!!

Sophie just loves it when we go get an oil change at our favourite 'drive-thru'.
We've been going here for a few years now on a regular basis
and Sophie knows this place very well....
especially the girls.

Kaleigh, on the right, is a dog lover and when she sees us coming
she is at the rear window giving Sophie some luvin.

Usually it's just Kaleigh and Sophie but yesterday another employee joined in.
So 'the girls' had a grand ole chat for a few minutes
talking about, what else, 'girl thingies'!

Of course there were treats involved....which in Soph's mind
just added to the party!!

Contemplative Monday

This is one of my favourite 'lessons'.

The following passage is from 'Heart Advice, Weekly Quotes From Pema Chodron'.

NOT CAPTURING ANYTHING

"Take the whole teatime just to drink your tea.

I started doing this in airports.

Instead of reading, I sit there and look at everything,
and appreciate it.

Even if you don't feel appreciation, just look.

Feel what you feel; take an interest and be curious.

Write less; don't try to capture it all on paper.

Sometimes writing, instead of being a fresh take,

is like trying to catch something and nail it down.

This capturing blinds us, and there's no fresh outlook,

no wide-open eyes, no curiosity.

When we are not trying to capture anything
we become like a child of illusion."

Eclectic Tastes

The music today is by one of my all-time favourite singer/songwriters,
Kate Bush.   (click to learn more about her)

She captures this pop music period so well...late 70's and early 80's......
when musicians and singers were starting to reach out in other directions
away from 'the Beatles period' and moving into more ethereal
interpretations and presentations.

I knew all her music and wore out the vinyl records.

Hope you enjoy her passion and artistry.
