Eclectic Tastes

Back in 1980 we lived in Vancouver, British Columbia on Canada's west coast.
We moved there 'lock, stock and barrel' in a van that had pretty well everything
we owned in it.
We met up with a friend, Stephen, also from Halifax, who also moved there.

A year later another friend, Frank, moved out as well.
It was 1980 when he arrived and he stayed there until about 6 months ago
when he returned to be with his sister in New Brunswick.
He was dying.
This past week he died.

Frank, we will never forget your contagious laughter and joy of life.....
the wonderful times and meals we would have at each other's homes in Vancouver.
Frank was a big man and very strong and when he danced he meant business
and would always lead with abandon! lol

Thanks for these great memories, Frank and Godspeed.

This song by 'Blondie' was very popular at the time.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

After the storm the surf was very active.....

Lawrencetown Beach.......and MacDonald House on the hill behind.

Just hung this lithograph print at the shop....

It's baseball season in North America and this 'Meindl' figure
(made in Nova Scotia) is at the shop.

A better vantage point for 'surf photos'......

Contemplative Monday

"Now is the only time.
How we relate to it creates the future.
In other words, if we are going to be more cheerful in the future,
it's because of our aspiration and exertion to be cheerful in the present.
What we do accumulates; the future is the result of what we do right now."

I remember this song so well in 1964-65.
Little did I know (ok, it took me a while!!)
that it would have great significance
on my life in only a few more years.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends
and have a great Columbus Day in the USA!!

Saturday Morning Post

I never realized before I started blogging
just how much the ocean is part of our lives.
It's in our veins.

Taken from the shop window on Wednesday....
ships waiting for entry into Halifax Harbour.

Speaking of entries......upper entrance to the park.
Dogs must be on leads here until a little further along.

The 'fall' colours are beginning make an appearance.

Coastal dune grass and Sophie......

Last evening on MacDonald Hill.....

October is a good surfing month here in Nova Scotia.

Looking towards Conrad's Beach and beyond to Cole Harbour.

These tiny Sea Gooseberries were everywhere at the beach this week.
What is a Sea Gooseberry?
Check here: Sea Gooseberry (click)

I always find these Sand Pipers very amusing in the way they scoot around
where the surf meets the sand.

The beach at dusk.....

In 1961-62 I remember  a friend and I went to see 'Breakfast AT Tiffany's'.
I was 13 years old and very impressionable as any 13 year old is.
I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn,
and the featured song "Moon River'.

Hope you enjoy this step back into the past as much as I did.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.
