Variations On A Theme


This is George's Island.(click) It is located right dab in the middle of Halifax Harbour.

First the French were in control.....until the English moved in.
Back in the day when the English were defending Halifax against 
any possible invasion by the France, this island was used as part of it's defense.

All large ships entering the harbour have to guided by tugboats 
to get safely around George's Island. 

It has never been 'open to the public' but will be by 2014.....
as 'Parks Canada' is now responsible for it.
It has been designated a National Park.


The following photos of George's Island reflect some 'photo fun' I had with them.
These were taken on Sunday as the sun was beginning to set.
