The Tropics Of Nova Scotia

Okay, maybe I am exaggerating just a little here a bit.

But every year for the past 10 years or so I am totally awestruck with this plant.

It is called  Clivia, Clivia Miniata to be exact and it hails from South Africa.

It looks like a tourist in our garden in that it's texture, colour and general appearance

makes it look like a visitor.....an long-term one.

We bring it in of course in the late fall and return it to it's 'summering home' in late May.

It must hibernate or something all winter because it stays in the basement and gets

just a minimum of sunlight and water.

It stays lusciously green though and appears to be enjoying it's rest.

Before I go completely overboard about this plant just let me say that it's colour is exactly

as you see it here. And living in a Northern Hemispheric country when this plant 'does it thing',

it's stands out and deserves to be noticed. Enjoy.
